We were here twice to enjoy the upper deck that has great views of the Bay and Beach Blvd. This area is now called the Blue Marlin and is more of a bar than the restaurant space downstairs. They have a nice selection of local beers and a decent wine list. The food is just finger food/appetizers. We highly recommend the fried green tomatoes - very good. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The outdoor deck in front has a fireplace, tv, and overhead fans making it a great option in almost any weather. Well worth a visit!

Nic and I were hungry while walking along the coast in Mississippi, while attempting to figure out where to get the best seafood via Yelp on an iphone. This is a great idea when you know where you are but being that we had never eaten at ANY of these places or knew where they were for that matter, I decided to ask some local Mississippians. Gosh, were they happy to come to the rescue of some poor Minnesotans (Mississippians love us btw, they are surprised by how much cold we can handle). Instantly they assumed we wanted seafood, which, yes, why not, the ocean is 2 feet away. The 3 we asked actually had all just met each other and all instantly said, "if you want the best seafood, and we mean the BEST, you have got to check out Trapani's." Three strangers, all agreeing? That's a no brainer. They warned us about the steeper price, but they said it doesn't matter, it's worth it, and we set out to find this magical restaurant. AMAZING seafood, I know I usually eat veggie, but when I'm sitting on the ocean and the owner is the fisherman that not only parties at night ( picked him out in an instant) but catches most of what is served, how can I not eat it? Sustainable food is also an important aspect of my chosen diet! It was busy, which didn't bug us coming from the big city, but I guess it must have been for some local Waveland residents. We were handed a light up wait device (What are those even called?) and told it would be about 20 minutes, and that we were more than welcomed to go upstairs to the casual bar. Oh yeah, it's two levels, the bottom being more 'formal' dining, and the rowdy bar above. The bar was hoppin' and I had a blast people watching! They have a full bar with a few snacks, which we didn't get because we wanted to save room for the real meal. But i liked that the bar didn't offer anything on the regular menu. We got seated about 20 minutes later (good timing skills!) While the service was a bit on the slow side, I'm gonna let it slide because it was busy and we were told they had to 'shuck more oysters" which I guess takes sometime. Anyways, we were met right away and we ordered the Seafood Steamer, which started with a salad (which the chef split into two normal sized salads, awesome!) with the homemade blue cheese dressing, which was some of the best dressing I've ever had in my life! Next, which was the LONG wait, came the steamer which consisted of a pound of Red Shrimp (look these guys up, you'll then know why they are SO GOOD, they are almost like Lobsters), 12 cooked oysters, cheesy and beautiful, 2 Snow Crab halves (I know, not local, but still amazing) and some corn on the cob (Us Minnesotans don't get this all the time!) It was amazing, the best seafood I've had and all for $75, which we thought was a very good price. If we ever make it back to the area, this will definitely be on the list!

Well, I went back for lunch, ate outside & it was great. The burger was delicious & the fries were great! My brother loved the grilled oysters & his Reuban & my husband enjoyed his poboy! Wonderful afternoon in Old Town. Outside is very wheelchair friendly

Our group of 14 had just arrived in Bay St. Louis for the week and wanted to eat out together for our first night of our week long stay. Trapani's Eatery fit the bill since we were all interested in seafood and we were staying close by. Parking and getting seated were both very easy, probably due to it being a Sunday night. I ordered the fried shrimp platter but also sampled the Crawfish Etouffee, Shrimp Scampy and Seafood Pasta. I like spicy entres and everyone of them had a nice spicy kick at the end of each bite. The fried shrimp were large and nicely seasoned and the cocktail sauce I ordered was potent and delicious. The Shrimp Scampi was delicious with large shrimp and pasta (some of the best scampy I have tasted). The seafood pasta was strong on flavor and I think I would try this dish on my next visit if I had not tasted the Etouffee. The Etouffee was flavorful and had an awesome spice kick to it even though I would have still added Tobasco myself. This dish may be their best dish and I am not a real big Etouffee fan. The consistency and ingredients were a near perfect combination for this delicious entre. The service by our inexperienced waitress lacked a little to be desired but she did tell us up front that this was the largest group she had served. She was nervous but cheerful and everything went well. It did take some time for the kitchen to get the food out but based on other yelpers this is pretty much the norm. We were, of course, in no hurry so we felt no inconvenience.

Started with the crab claws and finished with the Stuffed Flounder Bay St Louis. We had a group of 11 adults and kids and the service was excellent. Not a quiet place, but still a good atmosphere. They do have outdoor seating for a nice summer evening on the bay. Great place!

THE BEST restaurant on the coast, bar none. Had fried green tomatoes, wasabi tuna, and my wife had shrimp scampi. Everything was FANTASTIC! We will be back 100% for sure. If your in the area, please do yourself a favor and stop in. I guarantee you will love it!

This is one of my favorite restaurants on the coast and definately worth a try. The crab cakes are what you should see in the dictionary when you look up crab cakes. All lump crab meat with no filler or very little rolled in bread crumbs and paneed in seasoned oil. The fried green tomatoes with crab meat topping are once again, top of the line. I've had most of the dishes on the menu and all are very good. They are a little slow and it is a very small place so be prepared to wait if you get there after 5 but it's worth it. The service is freindly and and waits for food are average. This is one of the few places that I go in the South where they don't offer sweet tea! I don't understand but don't bother to ask. Parking is mostly on the street and pretty sparse during busy times.

Like another reviewer, I think Trapani's living off its previous good reputation. The food they are serving now is nowhere near their previous quality. It's really too bad too, as we always took our out of town guests there for a good taste of local dining. Not anymore

Took a trip up the Mississippi Coast and decided to give this restaurant a try. Not very busy and plenty of staff...but mostly standing around. After going upstairs, we figured out menu was not the same as first floor. We had a great server who entertained us with his story about surviving Katrina. Other servers were less than friendly and we noticed two even arguing about who would serve the tables outside. Very entertaining from a people watching standpoint...but not the kind of employees I'd want at my restaurant! Food arrived promptly, but no utensils, and food was actually very tasty and a good value. All in all...an interesting experience. Not sure we'll return, probably give one of the other Bay St. Louis restaurants a try next time around.

We came at around 8:00 on a Friday night. This is, of course, an exceptionally crowded time for any restaurant that is good. We opted for an inside table, rather than wait for an outdoor table. The food was good and competently served. The major irritant was that the Inside was exceptionally loud. Try to plan your visit for a time when you are either able to sit outside or when the inside is not so crowded.

We've eaten at Trapani's for years. We ate there before hurricane Katrina, we ate there, up on the highway, after Katrina and, we expectantly followed them back to their new digs in the Bay. It pains me greatly to say that after our meal today, we're finished. We can't/won't keep returning to a restaurant that can't deliver a dish worthy of what they are asking us to pay for it. Today, I had "Baked Stuffed Flounder" The menu described it as flounder stuffed with crabmeat then baked...$20. Pretty simple. What was served was two small pieces of some kind of fish that was very watery (probably frozen before being cooked) with some sort of slop poured on top. It was served with a "salad" that was lettuce only and 4 small grape tomatoes, a pasta was served as a side and, that was all gummed up. Literally, it almost made me sick to look at it. I scraped the slop off the top of the fish and then picked at the two thinest pieces of fish you can imagine. Sadly, this is the 3rd straight time that my meal has been similarly disappointing. I know that Trapani's can do better, for years they did better. But something has happened and it's not good. It's time to step back, access quality, access staff, look at the prices and correct the problems before it's to late. We may check back in 2014 to see if things have improved but as for 2013, our early New Year's Resolution is to not waste money on slop. Sorry.

This place was recommended to us by several locals and I'm glad we took them up on it! We initially sat upstairs not knowing it was a separate menu, so we then decided to sit outside. I had the ahi tuna for an appetizer along with the shrimp po boy, which is the best Po Boy I've ever had. The price for the quality and amount of food is fantastic. Service was top notch, and the inside of the restaurant was appealing as well. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely be back!

My family and I have eaten there now and again since 1998 and was always pleased. We went there recently and were severly disappointed. The service was horrible! Nobody greeted us for over 30 min once seated. When our waitress finally came over she was in a big rush and didn't let us finish placing our order (since we knew what we wanted because we were there for so long, also she didn't even tell us the specials) We grabbed her and told her that we were not finished. She apologized and took our order correctly. While sitting there we saw the manager walking around, but he never went to any tables greeting or welcoming customers. Our dish said "comes with garlic bread" on the menu, but our food arrived with plain bread, no butter, and our food cold. When pointing this out to our waitress she shrugged it off and said that the guy must have been slacking. Not offering any compensation. I understand that it was a busy Friday night, but the whole experience was unacceptable. Greatly disappointed in you Trapani's.

25 minutes to get a waitress to our table, 35 minutes to get water (after repeated attempts to ask 4 different people - hostess, other waitresses, the owner/chef for a cup so I could fill up the water myself), 50 minutes to get our food. If you have super patience, then this place is for you. We had 2 toddlers with us, so being this patient was not an option for us. I was typing this review while waiting for our food when the cook/owner came out to talk to us. When I told him we had been waiting nearly an hour for our food, he said, "That's actually not that bad." What?! Take ownership of your slow service, offer us something to make up for it, something! The house salad was disgusting, the seafood platter was good and the grilled shrimp was great, but the whole experience was terrible. I just checked my credit card statement and it looks like our waitress charged us twice! I just wish this experience could end but I'll have to call our credit card company tomorrow.

It's a trap! Trapani's labels itself as "the best in Bay St. Louis". I find this presumption fairly inaccurate. I ordered my usual sweet tea, and they didn't have it! Then I tried my backup, lemonade. Alas, to no avail. I discovered the other restaurant in Mississippi that doesn't serve sweet tea and lemonade (you can't squeeze a few lemons? Really??). For those keeping score, the other restaurant without these beverages is Vrazel's in Gulfport. In any case, my colleague and I both ordered crawfish etoufee with side salads. The salads weren't the best on the Bay. Old, near rotten iceberg lettuce that I refused to choke down. At this point, my expectations were very low for the crawfish etoufee. Fortunately, 'the best' on the bay came through. The roux for the crawfish had a rich, spicy flavor, but it definitely wasn't "pick up your bowl and lick the sides" delicious. The crawfish saved this place from a two star. The service was fair and open, outdoor seating on a warm spring afternoon is also a plus. If they dropped the arrogant self promoting quote from their sign and offered basic drinks, it would actually be a pleasant dining experience.

Had the stuffed mushrooms, gumbo and bloody Marys. The waiter suggested several appetizers, and we picked the mushrooms. I am a big fan of stuffed mushrooms, but never had them cooked like this. They were fried, so the stuffing had a crispy crust to cut through and chomp down on. Good! Don't think greasy. Wish there would have been 4 (3 served), since we had to split the third one. The gumbo was a thick, dark roux. Great flavor-got the bowl. The bloody Mary was good too-served with olives and perfect seasoning. Good service, nice atmosphere and good food and drinks. Went here after we were not waited on at the other restaurant. The feeling here was much nicer.

I want to love this place - I've been here twice. I've sat upstairs both times. The service wasn't very good, and the food is way overpriced. The 'royal reds' were a real disappointment -- so small I'm not sure we even got the real thing. An example of the bad service: we didn't get cocktail sauce until our shrimp were gone (about 15 mintues after we got the shrimp) becuase our waitress told us they were out and shed's have to go downstairs to get some. The only 'decent' beer on tap is Blue Moon - nothing local.

I was in town for a golf tournament and a group of 12 guys went to the restaurant one evening. I had the stuffed flounder and loved it. It was a great festive atmosphere and everything a gulf side restaurant should be. All 12 of us loved our dinners and the servers couldn't be more pleasant. The woman that I believe is the owner came by as well and told me the story of the destruction the restaurant faced after Katrina and what it took to rebuild. Only to be hit by BP spill. SHe loves her town and takes pride in the food they prepare. Ask to meet her if you get a chance! If you are heading to the water this is where you should go! TBT across the street...not so much.

Looking at the place, it's precious! Many outdoor tables all with matching umbrellas welcome diners in from the beach front. The interior is welcoming as well. Small tables create the possibility of intimacy although they can easily be pushed together to accommodate large parties. My party had 9 adults and 2 children. I called ahead and the management had our tables ready when we arrived. That was marvelous!! Our waiter was great. He was attentive and hustled back and forth with orders and drinks. I wish the food was as good as the pre-food experience. It took well over an hour for any food to come to the table. As we were ahead of the dinner rush, that was quite strange. As the food came out, my party became rather disappointed. I started with chargrilled oysters. They were good, but lacked seasoning and Parmesan. Of course, having had them many a time in New Orleans does affect my critique of the dish. Again, good but not spectacular. For my meal, I had the Little Palm Island Shrimp Salad. It was a "special" but there wasn't much special about it. It certainly looked a lot better than it was. It was ok, but lacked flavor. I also tasted a friend's tuna. I thought that the cook on the meat was very good. Tuna can dry out easily, but this tuna was cooked very nicely. Maybe I should have ordered that, although my friend wasn't the biggest fan.

Decided to go to the bar upstairs for lunch. Bad idea. Placed order with girl working and she didn't write it down. Went back up after 20 minutes had to place order again. We were the only ones up there and sat there for 45 more minutes waiting on a $14 Caesar salad with shrimp. Needless to say, I am not amused. I love the food downstaira, but if you want friendly fact service don't go upstairs

I hate to write negative reviews when the service was great, but I have to say, this was one of the worst meals I've had in recent memory. The soda was flat, the raw oysters were warm, the salad was swimming in dressing, and the stuffed flounder was practically inedible: mushy, unflavorful, and totally unappetizing. I couldn't eat more than a few bites, so I asked for a to-go box within about 5 minutes of getting my dish. I will say the patio is lovely, and the service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately, the food is 1 star at best.

Ordered the royal reds because the table next to me got them, and the shrimp were huge. Unfortunately, the texture was not quite right, and the veins down the back were commensurate in size with the shrimp, possibly even bigger than average. Not really appetizing. For boiled shrimp, go across the street to the Blind Tiger. The crab fingers, however, were outstanding. Can't go wrong there. I also enjoy their selection of specialty martinis.

This place was a great place to eat many years ago we would go often when I visited my family. When my husband and I were looking for a good meal unfortunately we picked the wrong place. The hostess was on the phone taking someone's order and didn't even acknowledge that we had walked in. We waited for many minutes but Our waitress was friendly after we finally sat down. The food was less than and tasteless. The decor is cute. I hope they can find their way again this was a great restaurant years ago. There are too many places in that area that cook good food to waste time going somewhere that doesn't.

My fiancee's family is from the area and insisted we come here for a casual lunch while in town. As a Houstonian and frequent visitor to the Gulf Coast by way of New Orleans, Galveston, etc. I'm used to fried seafood platters and po-boys a plenty. That being said, I was still pleasantly surprised by the food here. We ordered a couple of the appetizers and everything came out as described, warm and good. I"d suggest getting the artichoke/spinach dip for a starter. Our whole table loved it. My main meal was a soft shell crab po-boy and it was fantastic. The crab breading was light and crispy and the bread itself was fresh. Service was a little sluggish but it wasn't exactly peak season and they were probably low staffed. (got the vibe that most of this neighborhood of stores are tourist reliant) I think of much of the appeal to this place, beyond just being a good casual seafood restaurant, is the fact that it's still here, although in a new location since Katrina. It holds a great deal of nostalgia to locals and considering how hard hit the area was I'm sure it's nice to see some familiar menus. Stop in for a bite and try it out for yourself.

I've been going to Trapani's now for about 11 or 12 years, as long as I've been dating/married to my husband. I've always loved this place, especially the fried crawfish salad and the fried bowtie pasta with artichoke spinach dip. Recommended dishes: trout amandine fried crawfish salad with extra dressing (their homemade dressing that comes with it is awesome) ($11) any salad with their homemade blue cheese dressing fried bowtie pasta with artichoke/spinach dip dinwitty dessert Also recommend sitting upstairs on outside porch and sharing appetizers so glad to see it back open prices are VERY REASONABLE compared to new orleans

My husband and I stopped here for a late lunch while we were in town visiting. Food - Overall, 4 stars. I had fish tacos, a special of the day, and he had the stuffed flounder with Bay St Louis sauce. The fish tacos were good, but because the sauce on them was cold it made the tacos somewhat cold. The flounder was good. Both were large portions. It did not appear there was a lunch menu. The prices were $$ "dinner" prices. Service - 4 stars. The server was friendly and checked on us sufficiently. The food took about 25 minutes to come out. A bit long considering the slow time of day. Atmosphere - 5 stars. Very nice "beachy" atmosphere.

Underwhelmed. The place was packed, but service was incredibly slow. Couldn't determine if there weren't enough wait staff, or if the kitchen was just having an off night, but it took over a half hour to receive our appetizer and over an hour to get our entrees. One of the entrees (a beef item) had to be sent back to be cooked a little longer, so my dinner companion had to wait an additional 15 minutes to eat. We both ordered sandwiches. The bread of one sandwich was too hard, dry and flaky to be eaten by hand, and the other sandwich's bread was too soft, rendering it difficult to hold as well. I'm sure, based upon the good reviews this place gets, that they were having an off night, but we did pass up other dining opportunities, and kind of wishing we hadn't on this occasion. We will give them a try again in the future, but will not go on a Friday night, and will try different food.

Ok-so the fried green tomatoes and crabmeat with hollandaise lived up to the hype. I ordered this with a side of pasta (carb heavy meal I know)and a salad to make it a meal. I only wish they had included a bit more hollandaise-but that probably is because it was so good I needed just a bit more to cover my pasta with. The sauce was flavored with parmesan I think and it was a great contrast to the battered tomatoes. They didn't skimp on the crabmeat topping the tomatoes so we'll call it even. I also enjoyed a pecan beer from Lazy Magnolia which for this 'not so fond of beer' girl was surprisingly smooth and flavorful. No bitter hops at all. The service was a bit iffy -our server kept disappearing for stretches of time - when he was supposed to be dropping something off at our table he was nowhere to be found. A poor lady at our table had to wait several minutes for her salad( which was huge and chock full of veggies and meat and looked amazing) after the rest of us had been served. But it's the coast and the food was so good and the atmosphere so relaxed( the beach is right in front of you)couldn't really get up in arms about the guy doing his best to keep a large party of diners happy.

Came on the advice of a friend in the area 7 royal red shrimp, no more than 1/2 a pound 12 dollars. Étouffée was good. Draft beer was warm.

I wish there was a 4.5 star option because I hate giving this place a 4 star. The food is really good and the service is great. I've been several times and each time was "tha bomb". The trout almondine is fabulous. Last night I had the eggplant Parmesan. It came with two large planks of perfectly fried eggplant, a seafood topping and a side of pasta. The ONLY complaint I have is that I wish they would take the digestive track out of the shrimp. I understand that leaving it in is harmless but would prefer it be removed. I highly recommend this place. It's a great place to eat and is located in a very neat place in bay at Louis.

    (4)
  • Jeff S.

Crawfish étouffée was spectacular. House salad was very simple but the blue cheese dressing really changed it up. I had the fried shrimp platter - very lightly breaded leaving it with no overbearing doughy taste. Brother-in-law had the 8" po'boy and said it was very good. Husband had a club sandwich with a choice of two meats (he selected turkey and ham) and also said it was very good. Great weather today in Bay St. Louis so sitting outside added another element that couldn't be improved.

Ok so I live in New Orleans and maybe I've got unrealistically high expectations for restaurants but I don't think so as I'm generally easy enough to please. The dining experience here started a bit sketchy from the moment we walked in as there were very few occupied tables on a Friday night and no hostess to be found and it was at least 10 minutes before someone was sent over to seat us. So after getting our drink orders in and brought back to us our waitress then disappeared for about 15 minutes in which time I had finished my iced tea and was ready for more. When the waitress returned we all put our orders in and I selected the ruby red shrimp and a gumbo. Whoosh the waitress disappears again while my glass remained empty of a refill. About 20 minutes go by and the waitress returns with a pitcher to refill my drink and then apologizes to me that they are actually out of the shrimp tonight as their steamer broke... OK I'm not sure why it took so long to discover that there were no shrimp but I changed my order to the stuffed flounder. About 10 minutes later the dinner salad that came with my entree arrived and now the waitress seems to finally be getting into the groove of refilling drinks. I unwrap my napkin to retrieve my silverware and interestingly enough there is a huge dried gunk of green stuff all wrapped around the tines of my fork. About 10 minutes later the waitress returns with my gumbo and I was able to switch out my contaminated silverware. I polished off my little salad and then went on to the gumbo which was actually decent and the best thing I ate that night. Finally my entree arrived and I've never seen a stuffed flounder look quite like this one and while it wasn't terrible it wasn't exactly all that great either. The entree came with a side of plain pasta... I hope the pasta was supposed to have some type of sauce and they just forgot to put it on but I've never had such a side of plain naked pasta ever served to me. So I'm not sure if I just arrived on a night of epically bad things all lining up together to result in an absolutely horrible experience or what but the food and service DEFINITELY do not align with the price of this place. The waitress did apologize for the bad service at the end of the meal but that really seemed too little too late. The lack of attention to detail in things like allowing large chunks of food to be wrapped up in a napkin and forgetting the pasta sauce is inexcusable and it really isn't that hard to keep customers drinks refilled and stay apprised of what is available in the kitchen as those are the most basic restaurant functions.

This is my favorite restaurant in BSL. I've never been disappointed in anything I've ordered. I've been coming here for over 10 years. A few of my favorites are the Wasabi Tuna, fried green tomatoes, onion rings, and all of their seafood dishes. Seriously, you can't go wrong here. Staff is super friendly too.

KITCHEN NIGHTMARE! The evening started out by our party of 3 being greeted at the hostess stand which was a disaster. It was so messy. We were told our wait would be 30 minutes. Great, just enough time to grab a drink upstairs at the bar. We managed to score a table on the deck looking out at the water. Service was attentive and helpful. We should have stayed upstairs and ate appetizers. Once our table was ready we waited 15 minutes before a server ever came by to greet us. No guests should sit un greeted for more than 5 minutes. Our server was well, a BIT**. Extremely rude! After taking our order we had to ask TWICE for our appetizers. The salads came out first. The apps took 45 minutes. Then she came out and informed me they were out of the squash casserole which now we are looking at over an hour without food. She said "you can get broccoli or something" very unhelpful. In this situation a chef/owner has to be able to depend on their staff to smooth it over with the guests. Good service wools have made the situation a little better. Next thing we know the chef comes up and says "who ordered the sauce on the side" which it was my husband. He ordered that way for health purposes because we had heard they go heavy on the sauces. The chef responses with "well, they messed up and put the sauce on top but I promise it's good" HAHA are you kidding me!!!!! That chef should have insisted his line cooks fix it. But no he came out to our table totally unprofessional and basically said you have to get it that way. At this point we just wanted to eat and leave. The food was mediocre. Nothing to write home about. If you like fish covered in rich creamy sauce and pasta. We had no expectations to receive a discount, but some sort of apology or explanation of terrible dining service should have been provided to our table. I gave 2 starts solely on our experience upstairs at the bar. The bathrooms were a disaster. You have to walk by the kitchen to get to the bathroom and it literally was the most chaotic thing i have ever seen. So much so that I question the quality and production of the food. Being from the coast and this being our first time dining here, it was for sure a kitchen nightmare.

We usually come here for appetizers and drinks. You can sit up stairs and have a good time with a group of friends or a date. Our favorite apps are: spinach, artichoke, and crab with fried bowtie pasta, fried green tomatoes, and crawfish cakes. We have only gotten a few entrees here as we usually just order from the bar upstairs. The crawfish salad was delectable. I never have fried food on a salad. Since it goes against the point of getting a salad. However, this is worth it. My carnivorous husband even liked it. The grilled fish entrees are always perfectly cooked and seasoned. When I was a kid we used to come here for po-boys twice a week while visiting. I have not had one since I have been back but I am sure they are still delicious. I usually have wine and my husband has a Crown and Coke. The wine servings are small and priced around $8. You do not get a deal buying a bottle. Most bottles cost the same as 4 glasses of wine. My husband usually complains that there isn't much Crown in his drink. He has more luck ordering Crown on the rocks.

One great meal and one not so good. (one=4 star, one=1 star) Not sure what to think as I really dislike inconsistent places. With that said, one of the meals was very good. Bad design to the building inside with a poor layout.

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon with zephyrs from the bay caressing all that sat under the shade that day, oh sooo gently. We ordered and received our food; not too shabby but not outstanding. I had the fish taco special... very disappointing; it was all shredded cheese! To make matters worse, said tacos were on a bed of can salsa and sour cream... it was quite disgusting and not what you'd expect from a restaurant meal. My lady had a shrimp po boy... that was actually good. Now, the service was good and prompt so I'll probably give this place a second chance. But I hope they do something about the fish tacos. R, Isaac.

Trapani's once had great food. I'm a local, and I grew up eating here back when it was mainly just a sandwich shop. My latest experience here will be my last. I called on the phone and ordered a shrimp Po boy dressed to go with extra shrimp. I arrived about 10 minutes later and they told me it was almost ready. When the waitress brought my food out, I gave her a $20 bill and told her to keep the change. When I got home and opened the bag, the shrimp appeared to have been placed in the grease before it was hot enough to cook. They were saturated in grease, the bread was cold and partially stale. After one bite, I threw the rest of my po boy in the garbage. What was once a really nice little local restaurant is now serving food that is not edible. It's very sad, but they will never get another penny of my money.

Very comfortable environment, & service was great. Only down fall is being from Louisiana the seafood isn't anything close to ours, but still pretty good just a lack of seasoning. Prices are steep too compared to back home. BUT they do carry Louisiana brewed Abita AndyGator!!

Time to update my review of Trapani's... and not in a good way. As mentioned in the first review, this place has a great bar and patio upstairs. I really do enjoy coming here to either sit at the bar on a cold night or enjoy sitting out on the patio overlooking the gulf on a beautiful afternoon. That has not changed. That's it... that is all that's good. The food, drinks, etc. are all moderate at best, but more often just downright bad. When we first arrived last night, I asked the bartender if he knew how to make a good Old Fashioned... he said yes... and I beleive that to have been a bit of a fib. The OF was basically just some bourbon poured over ice with a cherry and an orange slice dropped into it. No symple syrup, no rye whiskey, no bitters, no pummeled fruit = not an Old Fashioned. The food was worse. I have now attempted three times to have the heavily advertised royal red shrimp at Trapani's... with each time being a failure. This time, I actually got the shrimp served to me, but they were no longer red, they were like white with red dots on them, and they were so mushy, they literally collapsed in my hands, shell and all. Of course, we sent them back and the bartender came back out to inform us these were literally the last few royal reds they had... which of course maybe explaines why they were so bad. Next, we ordered some spinach dip. Trapani's ripped off Copeland's with this recipe by serving fried bowtie pastas to eat the dip with rather than chips. I've mentioned in previous reviews that the fry they use is nowhere near as flavorful as Copeland's, and this time, the pasta was greatly overcooked. In addition to having little flavor, it was mush, much like the shrimp. BOTTOM LINE: The food at Trapani's is just no good... they really need to step it up in the kitchen. We now only go to Trapani's to enjoy the upstairs patio... we're done with the food, and we stick to simple beer orders at the bar.

Very comfortable environment, & service was great. Only down fall is being from Louisiana the seafood isn't anything close to ours, but still pretty good just a lack of seasoning. Prices are steep too compared to back home. BUT they do carry Louisiana brewed Abita AndyGator!!

Holy crap! The food was ok, the bar upstairs was fun, but damnit, I'd like a clean fork after my salad. Is that too much to ask? O.K., perhaps that is minor, but upon being told that a dish would be. $3 more to not get mushrooms. Seriously!?! That is just wrong.

It was very delicious and everyone was very nice. Drinks were strong. Plates are a little overpriced IMO. Trys to be a high upscale fancy place, but it isn't. 4 people ate for $90. Seems a little much. However the quality was great. Might go back

Ok so I live in New Orleans and maybe I've got unrealistically high expectations for restaurants but I don't think so as I'm generally easy enough to please.

One great meal and one not so good. (one=4 star, one=1 star) Not sure what to think as I really dislike inconsistent places. With that said, one of the meals was very good. Bad design to the building inside with a poor layout.

Excellent meal. We had the stuffed blackened flounder and steak tips over angel hair pasta. We used to come here before Katrina just for the stuffed mushrooms and once again they do not disappoint. The crab cakes had large lump crab and mixed perfect. A little small and tight restaurant so noise level was high. Very attentive wait staff. Great views outside

I've heard they moved from this location to somewhere on 90. Great seafood. Often the seafood has been caught earlier that day, so the flavor is outstanding. I have had some fantastic trout and flounder here. It is totally worth the wait.
